Is it possible to get a free PCR Test in Barcelona?
If you're looking to get a free Covid-19 test in Barcelona, you must be symptomatic or have been in direct contact with someone who has contracted the virus. You must also be registered with Spanish social security or hold valid up to date European Health Insurance Card. If you don't meet those criteria, you'll have to book your test in a private lab.
Turó Park Dental & Medical Center allows you to book an appointment and pay for your test online, and then go to one of our partner laboratories to carry out the test. Your results will then be sent directly to you by the laboratory within 24 to 48 hours (additional fee of 30 € for results within 24 hours.).

How to get a free Covid test in Barcelona?
As mentioned above, Spain's universal public healthcare system covers the costs of COVID tests for Spanish and EU citizens only if:
- You have Covid symptoms which are defined by the Spanish health Ministry (fever, coughing, shortness of breath...)
- You have been in close contact with an infected person (during more than 15 minutes without wearing a mask)
If you meet those requirements, you can contact the closest centre d'atenció primària (CAP) or call 061 to make an appointment for your free Covid test.
If you don't have symptoms or haven't been in contact with an infected person, you'll have to book an appointment through a private lab and pay for your test.
How much does a Covid-19 test cost in private labs in Barcelona?
Usually PCR tests cost around 100-120€, whereas antigen rapid tests cost between 30 and 70€. Labs usually apply supplements to get the results faster (12h-24h).
Is it possible to get a refund for my Covid test in Barcelona?
Some private insurance providers cover the cost of Covid tests taken abroad. We recommend you check in advance which are the documents you’ll need to send to your insurance to claim a refund for your coronavirus test expenses.
