Travel requirements to enter Spain: covid tests and vaccinations

Covid & Travel to Spain

What do I need to do to travel to Spain?

All passengers (excluding children under the age of 12 years old) travelling to Spain should be prepared to show evidence of one of the following on entry:

  • Documentation certifying that you have undertaken a COVID-19 nucleic acid amplification (NAAT) test (e.g. PCR, TMA, LAMP or NEAR) within 72 hours prior to arrival in Spain, or an antigen test taken within 48 hours of arrival, and tested negative. People within the k) category must undertake a PCR test.
  • A certificate or document certifying you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. For letter k), this is a compulsory requirement (travelling for tourism/leisure/other)
  • A medical certificate certifying that you have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 6 months prior to travel.

Also a FCS form associated with the trip has to be filled out and presented at the Sanitary Control of the airport upon arrival.

What is an FCS form?

It is a travel health form that must be completed by passengers entering the country. It is one of a number of travel health certificates introduced by countries around the world as travel requirements during the COVID-19 pandemic.

When do I need to fill one in?

Upon entering Spain from abroad, everyone must complete one of these forms.

How do I complete it?

To access the form visit: https://www.spth.gob.es/create. After filling in all fields, you will shortly receive an email with a security code and a link to the form associated with your trip and obtain your QR code. This QR code will be scanned upon arrival in Spain.

All this information can be found on the web page of the Spanish Ministry of Health:  https://www.spth.gob.es/info-pcr

Additionally, the government states that:

“In the context of the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic, all travellers wishing to enter Spain should be aware that, in addition to complying with the general requirements for entry into Spain, exceptional measures restricting mobility are currently in force in order to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Therefore, all travellers, regardless of the circumstances of their trip, are reiterated the recommendation to keep informed prior to their trip about the restrictions.”

In other words, it is very important to keep up to date with all of the changing rules if you wish to cross borders or travel to Spain.
