Biography

Dr. Ballesta specialises in General and Digestive Surgery. She is specialised in several areas, including colorectal and hepatobiliary surgery, endocrine and metabolic surgery, as well as bariatric surgery. Her training and career have focused in the treatment of endocrine disorders, highly complex laparoscopic surgery, and the treatment of obesity through bariatric procedures.

She is currently leading the Bariatric and Endocrine Surgery Unit at the University Hospital Dexeus and practicing at the Teknon Medical Center. Dr. Ballesta is fluent in multiple languages including English, French, Italian, Spanish, and Catalan.

Education

Dr. Ballesta completed her medical degree at the University of Barcelona in 2002 and further honed her skills as a European surgeon at the Catholic University of Louvain (Brussels), obtaining a specialist title in general and digestive surgery in 2011. Her oncological training includes prestigious fellowships at the Hospital Clinic for hepatobiliary surgery and a significant role as clinical head in colorectal surgery at the Sant Antoine Hospital in Paris between 2011-2012. Dr. Ballesta also pursued an IUD in Endocrine Surgery at renowned French institutions like the Sorbonne, enhancing her expertise in diabetes research.
