What is IPL?

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a polychromatic light with a wavelength between 400 and 1,200 nanometres, emitted in the form of light pulses.

It is used for curative or aesthetic skin care, mainly for permanent hair removal (photo-depilation), semi-definitive hair removal, treatment of signs of ageing, pigment spots (photo depigmentation) and rejuvenation (photorejuvenation).

What is aesthetic laser?

The word laser is an acronym for "Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation".

The operation of the laser in the context of aesthetic and dermatological treatments is simple. A laser light source is applied to the skin. The exposure of the skin or hair to the laser light causes a reaction in the body. Depending on the type of reaction of the skin, one result or the other will be obtained.

It is important to know that there are different lasers with different wave amplitudes. The wave amplitude of the laser is decisive in the way the light acts on the skin. Lasers work in one way or another, they are chosen according to the patient's objective: elimination of varicose veins or dilated blood vessels, correction of wrinkles and stretch marks, rejuvenation of the skin...

How does a Nordlys™ laser session at Turó Park Clinics work?

Before any procedure, it is necessary to consult a Nordlys laser specialist at Turó Park Clinics. This will enable him/her to determine the precise setting to be adopted according to the objectives, the area to be treated and the patient's skin type.

No preparation is necessary, except that the patient should not have been exposed to the sun in the last 15 days before the session. In some cases, a local anaesthetic can be given about an hour before the session.

The laser session is not painful but patients may experience some redness and swelling immediately after the treatment. It is recommended to moisturise the skin after each session to speed up the healing process.

It is also important to protect the skin and not to expose it to the sun in the days following the treatment to avoid hyperpigmentation.

Give your skin a new lease on life.
